Trent J. Yanko
President + CEO
Trent Yanko has over 20 years of industry experience in reservoir and production engineering, operations, drilling and completions, acquisitions and divestitures, and economic evaluations with both senior and junior Canadian oil and natural gas exploration and production companies. He has also completed technical and economic evaluations and aided in the structuring of production-sharing contracts in China and Ukraine. Mr. Yanko was most recently President and CEO of Mission Oil & Gas Inc. (TSX – MSO), which grew from 500 Boe/d to more than 7,000 Boe/d in two years, primarily due to success in the Bakken light oil resource play in southeast Saskatchewan, before being sold to Crescent Point Energy Trust for $670 million in 2007. As a result of the Bakken play and its impact, Mr. Yanko was named Saskatchewan Oilman of the Year in 2007.
As Vice-President, Production of StarPoint Energy Ltd. (TSX – SPN) he was instrumental in the company’s growth from 250 Boe/d to 9,000 Boe/d. Mr. Yanko also founded, financed, and managed Drill-X Energy Corp. and X-Terra Energy Inc. Previously, he served as Vice President of Waterous Securities Inc. (currently Scotia Waterous), specializing in the divestiture of oil and natural gas assets and companies, and held a number of positions of increasing responsibility at Startech Energy Ltd. and Lateral Vector Resources Inc. He started his career as a reservoir engineer with Saskoil. Mr. Yanko holds a B.A.Sc. in Engineering from the University of Regina and is a member of APEGGA, APEGS and SPE.
Matt Janisch
Vice President, Finance + CFO
Matt Janisch has over 25 years of oil and natural gas and financial experience and was most recently Executive Vice-President and CFO of Bow Valley Energy Ltd., an international oil and natural gas producer. He has 12 years of investment banking and equity research experience with BMO Capital Markets.
His background also includes roles with Waterous Securities Inc. (currently ScotiaWaterous), Coles Nikiforuk Pennell and Associates (currently GLJ Petroleum Consultants) and PetroCanada Resources (now Suncor). Mr. Janisch holds a B.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Alberta and an MBA from the University of Western Ontario. He is a member of APEGGA.
Curt W. Labelle
Vice President, Production
Curt Labelle has served the oil and natural gas industry for more than 27 years. Prior to joining Legacy, he was Vice President, Operations of Bonus Energy Ltd. Previously, Mr. Labelle was Vice President, Operations with two junior companies (Great Plains Exploration and Kinloch Resources Inc.) and intermediate Summit Resources Limited. Before joining Summit, he held various engineering and technical management positions over a 15-year period with Home Oil Company Limited, including Chief Engineer from 1992 to 1995. He has a diploma in Petroleum Technology from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and a B.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Alberta. Mr. Labelle is member of APEGGA, SPE, SPEE Calgary Chapter and the CIM Petroleum Society. He is a former executive with the SPEE Calgary Chapter and has served on the SAIT Petroleum Advisory Board as well as numerous technical and steering committees.
Dale C.J. Mennis
Vice President, Land
Dale Mennis brings to Legacy 25 years of industry experience, and is a specialist in the management of growth-oriented public oil and natural gas companies. Prior to joining Legacy, he served as Vice President, Business Development and Land for Daylight Resources Trust. Previously, he was Vice President, Exploration and Development for Calpine Canada, and Manager, Fort St. John Growth Team with Encal Energy Ltd. Mr. Mennis has also held senior managerial and executive positions with growth-oriented public junior oil and natural gas companies, including Richland Petroleum Corporation, Atlantis Oil & Gas Ltd., Pancontinental Oil Ltd., Dome Petroleum Ltd., and Hudson’s Bay Oil & Gas Ltd. He holds a BBA, Petroleum Land Management (Honors) from the University of Oklahoma, College of Business Administration.
Mark Oliver
Vice President, Exploration
Mark Oliver is a Professional Geologist with more than 30 years of industry experience. For the past 14 years he held a number of positions with Provident Energy Ltd., including Saskatchewan Team Leader and Vice President Geosciences and Technical Services, and with Provident's predecessor company, Founders Energy Ltd., as Vice President Exploration. Mr. Oliver holds a B.Sc. in Geology from the University of Calgary and is a member of CSPG, AAPG, and APEGGA.
Bill Wee
Vice President, Operations
Bill Wee has 28 years of experience in the oil and natural gas industry and was most recently with Galleon Energy Inc. (currently Guide Exploration Ltd.) where he held positions of Vice President, Operations and Vice President, Corporate Development. Prior to joining Galleon, he was Vice President, Engineering at Temple Energy Inc. (currently Cequence Energy Inc.) and at Temple Exploration Inc. (private company sold to major producer in 2004). He has also held senior managerial and technical positions with Rio Alto Exploration, Ulster Petroleums Ltd., Wascana Energy, and Husky Oil. Mr. Wee holds Master of Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering degrees from the University of Calgary and was a part-time continuing education instructor of oil and gas courses at Mount Royal University and SAIT. He is a member of APEGGA and has served on council of the Vermilion Branch of APEGGA.
Curt Ziemer
Vice President, Accounting
Curt Ziemer is a Certified General Accountant with more than 23 years of industry experience. Prior to joining Legacy, he was the Vice President, Finance and CFO of Alberta Clipper Energy Inc. from the inception to the sale of the Company in 2009. He previously held a number of positions of progressing responsibility with StarPoint Energy Trust, including Controller, Crescent Point Energy Inc. and Startech Energy Inc. Mr. Ziemer holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Calgary and is a member of CGA of Alberta.
